Why Timing is the Secret to Great Cooking
Most cooking problems come down to timing. A reliable kitchen timer is the easiest way to get the same good result every time you cook.
Essential Cooking Times
Proteins
- Chicken breast: 6-8 min/side
- Salmon: 4-5 min/side
- Steak (medium): 4-5 min/side
- Eggs (soft boiled): 6-7 min
Vegetables
- Broccoli (steamed): 5-7 min
- Roasted potatoes: 25-30 min
- Grilled asparagus: 3-4 min
Multi-Timer Cooking
When you're cooking several dishes, set separate timers for each one. Start the longest job first and work back, so everything is ready at the same time.
Typed Commands for Kitchen Timers
If your hands are busy, type a request to the timer assistant instead of pressing buttons: "Set a 10-minute timer for pasta" or "Timer for chicken, 25 minutes."
