How to set an alarm
- Pick a time, or tap a quick time such as 07:00 or 12:00.
- Add a name if you like, such as Leave for the station.
- Choose bell, beep, chime or none, then press Set Alarm.
- Leave the tab open. When the time comes, the sound plays and the alarm's name shows on screen.
What a browser alarm can and cannot do
The alarm runs inside this page, so the tab has to stay open and the computer has to stay awake. It cannot wake a sleeping laptop or a locked phone.
That makes it a good desk alarm and a poor bedside one. Use it for the end of a break, a meeting at 3pm, or a reminder to take something out of the oven. For getting up in the morning, use your phone's built-in alarm.
Alarm or timer?
Use an alarm when you know the time something should happen, like 3:30pm. Use a timer when you know how long it should take, like 20 minutes. For a length of time, the ready-made timers are quicker: one click and they start.
Frequently asked questions
Will the alarm go off if I close the tab?
No. The page has to be open for the alarm to sound. It can sit in a background tab while you work in another.
Will it wake me up in the morning?
Only if the computer stays awake with the tab open and the sound turned up. A sleeping laptop or a locked phone will not sound it. For mornings, your phone's own alarm is the safer choice.
Can I set more than one alarm?
Yes. Add as many as you need. Each one can be switched off with its bell icon or deleted.
Are my alarms saved?
Yes. They are kept in this browser on this device, so they are still there after a reload. There is no account.
What happens when an alarm goes off?
The sound you picked plays five times and a message shows the alarm's name. The alarm then switches itself off, so it will not go off again tomorrow.
