The next New Year's Day is Friday, 1 January 2027. The one after that is Saturday, 1 January 2028.
When midnight arrives where you are
The countdown ends at midnight on your device's clock, so it is right for wherever you are. Around the world, the new year arrives over about a day.
- The first places to reach midnight are in Kiribati, at UTC+14.
- Sydney gets there 11 hours before London, which is on UTC+0 in winter.
- New York gets there 5 hours after London.
- The last places where people live, American Samoa and Niue, are at UTC-11, 25 hours after Kiribati.

Putting it on a TV or projector
Open this page in the browser on the TV, laptop or tablet you want to use and press Full screen. The buttons fade away after a few seconds and come back when you move the mouse or tap.
If your browser offers Keep screen on, press it so the screen does not go to sleep before midnight. If it does not, turn off sleep or auto-lock for the evening and keep the device plugged in.
Casting a tab to a TV can add a delay of a second or two. If the timing matters, count from a screen that is running the page itself.
The last 10 seconds
In the last minute the countdown switches to one big number of seconds, so the whole room can see it and count down together from 10. At midnight it shows Happy New Year, and keeps showing it for the whole of 1 January. It does not play a sound, so have the music ready.

As accurate as your device clock, which is usually set from the internet and right to within a second.
Does it make a sound at midnight?
No. It shows the last 60 seconds as one big number, then Happy New Year at midnight.
What does it show after midnight?
Happy New Year, for the whole of 1 January. From 2 January it counts down to the next new year.
