    Lessons and revision

Lots of schools run lessons of 45 to 60 minutes. A 45 minute block also works for revision: long enough to get through a section of a past paper, short enough to stay sharp. If the whole room needs to see the time, put the classroom timer on the board.

    Football and fitness classes

Each half of a football match is 45 minutes, plus stoppage time. Plenty of gym classes, spin sessions and yoga flows are 45 minutes too, so this is a handy timer for training at home to the same length.

    Proving bread

A second rise for bread dough often takes 30 to 60 minutes, depending on how warm the room is. 45 minutes is a good time to check. Press it lightly with a finger: it is ready when the dent springs back slowly.

    How the timer works

    • Press Start and it counts down. Change the hours, minutes or seconds first if you need a different length.
    • It works from your device clock, so it stays right in a background tab, and the time left shows in the tab title.
    • Pick an end sound (chime, bell, beep, gentle or silent). The full screen button puts the timer alone on the screen.
    • Keeps working offline once the page has loaded. No account, nothing to install.

    Frequently asked questions

How long is a half of football?

45 minutes, with stoppage time added at the end by the referee.

Is 45 minutes too long to study in one go?

For most people it works if you take a 10 to 15 minute break afterwards. If your focus fades sooner, try 25 minute blocks.

Can I show the timer on a projector?

Yes. Press the full screen button on the timer and it fills the screen.

    Is it free?

    Yes, with no signup.
