What 30 seconds is good for

    • A plank or wall sit hold when you are starting out
    • Interval training: 30 seconds hard, 30 seconds easy, repeated
    • Quick-fire rounds in class or a quiz, one answer each
    • Brushing teeth: two minutes split across four parts of your mouth is 30 seconds each

    Running a set of intervals

This page times one 30 second block. Press Reset, then Start, for the next one. For a whole set of 30 on, 30 off, it is easier to start the 10 minute timer and switch between work and rest every time the seconds pass :30 and :00.

Why not just count in your head

Counting to 30 while you are working hard tends to speed up. A timer keeps every hold and every interval the same length, so this week's session is a fair comparison with last week's.

    How the timer works

    • Press Start and it counts down. Change the hours, minutes or seconds first if you need a different length.
    • It works from your device clock, so it stays right in a background tab, and the time left shows in the tab title.
    • Pick an end sound (chime, bell, beep, gentle or silent). The full screen button puts the timer alone on the screen.
    • Keeps working offline once the page has loaded. No account, nothing to install.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I restart the 30 second timer quickly?

Press Reset, then Start. The length stays at 30 seconds until you change it.

Can I change it to 45 or 20 seconds?

Yes. Before you press Start, type a new number in the seconds box. 0 minutes and 45 seconds gives you 45 seconds.

Which end sound is easiest to hear in a gym?

Beep. It is a short, sharp tone that cuts through music better than the chime.

    Is it free?

Yes. No signup and nothing to install.
